It seems that the semi final between arch rivals India and Pakistan is even bigger than the final of ICC World Cup 2011. After it was scheduled, the whole nation couldn't find anything else to talk about, some companies have declared holidays to give a treat to their employees and big names including politicians & tycoons are seeking permissions for their jets to land in Mohali to witness the mother of all clashes in this Maha Kumb of cricket. With the scale of the match has gone so big, there is no wonder that the amount of money being bet is also huge. While bookies are refusing to hazard a guess as to the amount being wagered, sources said that the money bet on Wednesday’s match is easily more than all the money bet on India’s matches in the World Cup so far. “This is big, India and Pakistan have not played for a long while, and so everyone is betting on it. Even those who don’t usually bet are calling the punters and putting in Rs.50,000 to Rs.5 lakh,” said a bookie on condition of anonymity. The punters said that India was the overwhelming favourite to win the match and the rates reflect that. Bookies have slotted India at 58 paise while Pak is at Rs1.60. So if one bets Rs.100 on India and they win, one would get 58 paise on every rupee. Similarly, if one puts Rs.100 on Pak and they win, one would get Rs.2.60 for every rupee. “These are home conditions, our batting is strong, we have been favourites from the beginning and the team has not disappointed. “India has played well. Against England, they managed to tie a match that could have been lost. We played well against South Africa but lost the match in the last over. “Pakistan, on the other hand, have not been challenged as strongly. They did win against Australia but it is not given much importance. Similarly, the win against Sri Lanka does not matter as they did not have Lasith Malinga in their team,” said a bookie. Interestingly, he added that there are many ‘patriotic’ punters who would bet on India even if the team was not in a good position. “There are many deshbhakt (patriotic) Indian punters who always bet on a match involving India and Pakistan. “It wouldn’t matter if India was playing on a docile wicket in Sharjah on a Friday or in a fast-bowler friendly wicket in Rawalpindi, they would still bet all their money on India if they were playing against Pakistan. That’s how it goes and that’s how it has always been,”said the bookie. Dhoni in the match presentation ceremony against Australia mentioned that people would now be of the view that Team India shall win semi final and it wouldn't matter if they do not bring the cup home, but the skipper clarified that every game is equally important and there is no better thing than lifting the prestigious trophy of cricket.

All of us, no matter how big or how small, whether male or female -- we all owe our lives to a woman. While Mother's Day may not be till May, let's celebrate all the women of the world with these inspirational quotes during International Women's Day and Women's History Month.

HAPPY WOMAN'S DAY
International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women’s Day is marked on the 8th of March every year.[1] It is a major day of global celebration of women. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political and social achievements.
Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily Eastern Europe, Russia, and the former Soviet bloc. In many regions, the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and St Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the original political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner.
Female members of the Australian Builders Labourers Federation march on International Women's Day 1975 in Sydney
The mimosa (technically, the Silver Wattle) is the symbol of the celebrations of Women's day in Italy and Russia
The first IWD was observed on 19 March 1911 in Germany following a declaration by the Socialist Party of America. The idea of having an international women's day was first put forward at the turn of the 20th century amid rapid world industrialization and economic expansion that led to protests over working

Sinhagad is a fort that stands as a testimony to the bravery of the Maratha warriors under the leadership of Tanaji Malusare, the general of Chhatrapati Shivaji. The previous name of the fort was Kondhana. The massive fort has been the site of wanton bloodshed and great massacres in many a battle. The most famous among them is of course the 1670 battle where Tanaji Malusare sacrificed his life and the Maratha warriors captured the fort. Chhatrapati Shivaji termed Tanaji as “sinha” (Marathi equivalent for English “lion”) and renamed Kondhana as Sinhagad. The fort lies 30 km southwest of Pune and the construction stands 800 m above the surrounding area. Strategically Sinhagad held immense importance in the Maratha regime as it is located right at the center of the series of other forts like Purandhar, Torna and Rajgad. The fort perches on a cut off cliff of the Bhuleshwar range in the Sahyadri Mountains. It’s altitude from the sea level is about 1350m.
Among the chief features of the fort, steep slopes, huge walls and bastions are a few important ones. There are two entrances to the fort: Pune Darwaza in North East and Kalyan Darwaza in the South East.
The fort during the reign of the Marathas acted as an important military outpost. The fortification on the fort, now in ruins, still proclaims the grandeur of the architecture and craftsmanship. This is one of the most popular picnic spots in and around Pune. Lovers of adventure arrange treks on the fort which are a real thrill.
The cenotaphs of Tanaji and Rajaram, Shivaji’s younger brother, military stables, the temple of Goddess Kali and the Hanuman Statue to the right of the temple are a few places worth visiting on the fort.
The cadets of the National Defense Academy (NDA) Khadakwasla are sent to the fort regularly as a part of their rigorous military training.
You can reach the top of the fort by vehicles using a steep narrow road at the base. Buses to Sinhagad foothills are available every hour from Shaniwarwada and Swargate. Shared taxi services are also available easily. The climbing route to the fort from both the entrance is an hour long endeavor. But one should be careful while setting out on a trek to the fort especially in the rains when the route gets slippery.
So do plan a trip or a trek to Sinhagad and breathe in the fresh air.
